Sometimes funding results can still take an unexpected turn! To my happy surprise, after initially being placed on the reserve list, my Academy Research Fellowship has now received a positive result from the Research Council of Finland (Suomen Akatemia)!

Starting next year, I will be leading a 4-year project at the University of Jyväskylä, where we will try to identify new interoception-based treatment targets for mental health disorders. We will be using the state-of-the-art multi-modal neuroimaging facilities, such as TMS-EEG and closed-loop tACS, at the Jyväskylä Brain & Mind labs, combined with multidimensional assessments of mental health and computational modeling. This project will certainly be challenging, so I am very happy that Tuula Hurri will be starting her PhD in my team so we can tackle this together.

The project will also bring a lot of exciting collaborations, some new and some continuing. I look forward to working closely together with Tiina Parviainen & Tuija Aro, Sara Määttä (Kuopio University Hospital), Anke Karabanov (University of Copenhagen), Marion Rouault (Institut du Cerveau – Paris Brain Institute) and Sanne ten Oever (Maastricht University).
